The park was built by a group of businessmen in 1990 in the Quindío Department of west-central Colombia, a region famed for its production of coffee, and was intended to promote contact between humans and nature and create awareness about agriculture, specifically for those who live in the city. Today, it is one of the biggest agricultural parks in the country.To better accommodate tourism the theme park now offers lodging. Neighboring the park are two of the park's lodging complexes, called "Fincas Panaca" and "Pueblo Panaca". Fincas Panaca was founded in 2011 and consists of 62 individual villas. Pueblo Panaca, started in 2017, is nearing its final phase of construction and will mimic life in a small town.Recuca RECUCA is the tour of the coffee culture, where visitors can take on the role of a Coffee grower, Knowing the coffee process from the seed to the cup. In Recuca, our guests will enjoy the experience of living in the farm.“Recuca” is located in Calle Larga – Barcelona, village of the municipality of Calarca. Recuca is inside of the Coffee Cultural Landscape. It is located 20 minutes from Calarca or from Armenia. Paved road, easy access and beautiful landscapes are found.Jardín Botanico del Quindio The Department of Quindío is home to the most important Botanical Garden in Colombia. It is located in the municipality of Calarcá, 15 minutes from Armenia, the capital of the Department of Quindío.Founded in 1979 by Quindío environmentalist Alberto Gómez Mejía, it is a non-profit foundation that operates as a scientific research center. Upon opening its doors to the public in 2000, it established itself as one of the main tourist attractions in the coffee-growing region.Its butterfly house, a gigantic 690 m3 structure, has one of the largest butterfly collections in the world.Parque Soledén The Comfenalco Quindío Tourist and Sports Complex is the ideal setting for integration, recreation, and fun.Soledén features a bowling alley, accommodations at the Barranqueros Hotel, a restaurant and bar, auditoriums, ecological trails, soccer fields, tennis courts, a lake and water bikes, a climbing wall, a zip line, a game and sports equipment room, aquatic areas (swimming pools), and multi-purpose courts for practicing your favorite sport.Valle de Cocora The Cocora Valley (Spanish: Valle de Cocora) is a valley in the Quindío Department of Colombia. It is located in the Central Cordillera of the Andean mountains. "Cocora" was the name of a Quimbayan princess, daughter of the local chief Acaime, and means "star of water" (Spanish: estrella de agua).The valley is part of the Los Nevados National Natural Park, incorporated into the existing national park by the Colombian government in 1985. It is the main location where the national tree of Colombia, the Quindío wax palm (Ceroxylon quindiuense) can be found, as well as a wide variety of other flora and fauna (some endangered), all of which are protected under the park's national status.
